Development of a recreation area at Laurel Creek Reservoir has begun. Last week, workers began work on a loop road to provide easier access to the water. Long term plans for the area include a new boat ramp, handicapped bathroom facilities, better parking, and the addition of a walking trail and picnic area. Recreational development of the local favorite fishing hole and secondary county water supply is a result of cooperative efforts between local government and the McCreary County Water District. McCreary County Judge Executive Doug Stephens is hopeful the project will be completed by the end of this year.
