District Tournaments set

It is do or die time for both the Raiders Baseball and Lady Raiders Softball as next Monday kicks off the 48th District Tournament for both squads.

The Raiders will play on Monday evening at Wayne County High School at 7:00 p.m. against the Wayne County Cardinals.

McCreary (9-21 entering the final week) have faced Wayne County (17-12) twice this season, losing both games 20-0.

The winner will continue on to face Southwestern in the Championship game Tuesday night at 8:00 at Southwestern High School. The Warriors enter the final week of the season with a 20-9 record. Both the Champion and runner-up will continue their seasons during the 12th Region Tournament, which begins on May 30.

The Raiders have two more regular season scheduled games this week: hosting Whitley County on Thursday, which will also feature senior night and Clinton County Friday evening.

The Lady Raiders also take their chance at advancing to the 12th Region Tournament Monday night when they face off against the Lady Cardinals of Wayne County in the opening round. The game will be held at Southwestern High School, with first-pitch scheduled for 7:00.

McCreary (15-16) and Wayne (18-10) met twice in regular season play, with each team coming away with a win. McCreary took the first game on the road with a 9-4 victory, but Wayne County returned the favor with a 10-3 win a week later on the Lady Raiders’ home field.

The winner will take on the Lady Warriors (14-19) on Tuesday night at 7:00. McCreary and Southwestern split their regular season meetings, while the Lady Warriors swept Wayne County in both contests.
