The McCreary Central FFA Executive Team attended the Kentucky Leadership Training Center this past week, June 27th through July 1st. We went through a series of events that will help us become better leaders and be able to build a better officer team.
One event that we got to attend was the ropes course. The ropes course is made up of a lot of obstacles that help each executive team build trust and stronger bonds. In one obstacle, the instructor blindfolded me and I was expected to swing on a rope from one hula hoop to another. I couldn’t see, so I had to trust that my fellow officers would help me across without letting me fall. Not only did we find trust in each other, but we became closer as a family.
Another event that we got to experience was the talent show. In my opinion one of the greatest things ever is getting to acknowledge other people’s amazing talents. Our very own secretary, Katelynn Coffey, shared her beautiful voice with everyone during the talent show. Although she did not win, our FFA Chapter was proud to have been represented by such a talented person.
During the day we had free time to meet new people and just relax. We shared many laughs, smiles and a few tears from our senior officers. With this being my last year of high school, I am honored to be part of such an incredible group.
I think I speak for all of our executive team when I say thank you to our Advisor, Mr. Cameron Lee. Not only for putting up with us for an entire week, bur for always building us back up when we are falling down. Each of us can’t be more thankful to have such a hardworking and dedicated advisor for our FFA Chapter. He always reminded us that winning or losing doesn’t matter. Mr. Cameron Lee told us, “FFA Camp is for fun, not to get down about some little games. Those games do not define you as a leader, your actions do.”
