Local woman charged in Wayne County drug arrest

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department reported a Tuesday traffic stop resulted in the arrest of three individuals on drug charges. 

One of those arrested was Beverly Risner, of Strunk, on charges of trafficking in a controlled substance, 1st degree, methamphetamine, trafficking in a controlled substance, 1st degree, drug unspecified, possession of a controled substance, 1st degree, methamphetamine and for tampering with physical evidence.

According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron, Deputy Brad Tucker initiated a traffic stop at Zollicoffer Estates. The vehicle attempted to evade the stop, and the driver, identified as Corrie Rudolph, of Alpharetta, Georgia, exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Additional officers arrived on scene to assist in the search for the suspect, who was eventually located in a ditch and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit.

Sheriff Catron stated the traffic stop resulted in the seizure of 85 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 297 Alprazolam (Xanax) pills, .2 grams of heroin, 8 grams of marijuana and $ 4,312.00 in cash, with the narcotics having estimated street value of $ 15,000.00.

Rudolph was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, 1st degree, methamphetamine, trafficking in a controlled substance, 1st degree, drug unspecified, resisting arrest, reckless driving and for 2 counts of fleeing or evading Police, 2nd degree, (foot).

A third individual, identified as Billy Scott Hurt of Monticello, was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, 1st degree, methamphetamine and for carrying a concealed weapon.

Deputy Tucker, Deputy Tommy Spencer, Deputy Travis Bell and K9 Deputy Fauster were assisted by Sheriff Tim Catron and Monticello Police Department Officer John Hurd.

The investigation is continuing with search warrants expected to be obtained with additional arrests pending.
