Cox graduates from Washington and Lee University
Alyson Cox, the daughter of Karen and Michael Cox of Lexington, the granddaughter of Irene Becker of Whitley City, the granddaughter of Joyce and Bert Cox, Jr. of Somerset, and the great-granddaughter of the late Ethel and Hobson Stephens of Whitley City, graduated from Washington and Lee University School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree in May 2016. She graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. While at Washington and Lee, Alyson served as the Managing Online Editor of the Law Review and the Senior Articles Editor of the German Law Journal. Her Note was published in Volume 72 of the Law Review.
Alyson received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with minors in Music and Religion from Transylvania University in 2013. She is moving to Knoxville, Tennessee in August to clerk for the Honorable Thomas Varlan of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. The following year, Alyson will be clerking in London, Kentucky for the Honorable Eugene Siler, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. After clerking, Alyson plans to litigate in Washington, D.C.
