Welcome to Cumberland Falls State Resort Park.  Nestled within the Daniel Boone National Forest, Cumberland Falls is known as the “The Niagara of the South”. Friday,  October 7 – 7:00 p.m. – The Kentucky Long Rifle and the Hunters who used them. Daniel Boone is of the most famous Kentucky explorer, but he was not the first European to enter Kentucky. Kentucky is the first western frontier and early life was tough. This program will explain why many people were coming to Kentucky and listen to some accounts of their travels through the Cumberland River region.  Where:  Visitor Center, everyone welcome, time: 45 minutes

Saturday,  October 8 – 10:00 a.m. – Leafy T-shirts. Make a wearable work of art that will give you fond memories of Cumberland Falls every time that you wear it. Where:  Pavilion, Cost $8.00 per shirt, Ages: 5 & up, Time: 1 hour.

1:00 p.m. – Pinnacle Knob Fire Tower Hike – The Pinnacle Knob Fire Tower was constructed in 1937 by the U.S. Forest Service.  By the mid 1960’s the Pinnacle Knob Tower was abandoned. The park’s goal is to recreate the interior of the cabin to represent the early days of fire detection. Join the naturalist on this moderate in difficulty trail and take in spectacular views from the Firetower!  Please bring drinking water and dress appropriately for a winter hike. Where: Lobby of Dupont Lodge, Ages:  Everyone Time: 1.5 hours

3:30 p.m. – Introduction to Archery  Have you ever wanted to shoot a bow like Robin Hood? Katniss Everdeen? Here is an opportunity to learn basic archery skills. After a short lesson you will be hitting bull’s-eyes on our range. An adult needs to be present with children under 16. Location: Pavilion    Ages: 5 & up      Time: 1.5 hours

7:00 p.m. – Hunters of the Night – Have you ever heard the phrase the wise old owl?   Why is this true?  Join us to learn more about these nocturnal raptors.  After dark we will attempt to call in some live birds. Where:  Pavilion, Ages: Everyone, Time: 1 hour.
