After a bye week during fall break the Raiders are back in action this Friday night with their final road game of the season at Ewing, Virginia to take on the Thomas Walker Pioneers.
The Pioneers enter this week with a 2-5 record, coming off a 57-40 loss to Twin Valley last week. The 40 points scored by the Pioneers last week was their highest total all season and are averaging just over 14 points per game.
The Raiders, led by the state rushing leader Brandon Troxell, are 6-2 this season, and are averaging more than 45 points per game coming in to the final two weeks of the season. Quarterback Hunter Jones is averaging 145 yards per game passing, balancing the strong ground game with a consistent air attack. Devon Hamilton, Ryan Jones and Nathan Goins are Jones’ favorite targets, averaging 130 yards per game receiving collectively.
The McCreary defense, allowing only 24 points per game, is ranked 11th in the state for passing yards allowed – giving up only 56 yards per game.
Last year the Pioneers knocked off the Raiders with a 38-18 win.
The Raiders wrap up their season on October 28 when they host Harlan.
