Sheriff warns of possible scam

McCreary County Sheriff Randy Waters is alerting citizens of a possible scam involving individuals claiming to be representatives from the Sheriff’s Office conducting a survey.

The Sheriff stated he had received several reports of individuals attempting to gain entry into homes in the northern end of the county Wednesday, and warns citizens that no such survey is underway.

“Unless they are wearing a uniform and badge, and can give you their name and badge number, they are not representing the Sheriff, and you should call 911 immediately,” Sheriff Waters said.
