The Lord’s Café, an outreach of the Crossroads Community Baptist Church, will host their 6th annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner at the Lord’s Café located next to the Parkland Motel.  Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings will be served from 10:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. this Saturday, November 19, 2016.  Everyone is welcome to enjoy the dinner.  There is no cost; however, donations from those able to give are welcomed.  Homebound meals are available to those with a doctor’s note.

Last year, 1,263 people enjoyed food and fellowship at the dinner.  With 800 pounds of turkey now ready for preparation, organizers hope to feed 1,500 people this year.  Volunteers, both local and from six states, will be on hand to help with all aspects of the dinner including food preparation, serving, directing traffic, and washing dishes.  This year’s menu includes turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, homemade yeast rolls, and a choice from several different desserts.

Crossroads’ Pastor Grant Hasty said the dinner is organized each year to show the love of Christ during the Thanksgiving season.  Hasty is pleased and thankful for the support shown through both local and out- of-town donations and volunteers.   He also stated that local volunteers, donations, and support for the outreach have picked up on a regular basis.

In addition to the dinner, there will be clothing and coat give-away on Saturday.  This event will be held outside during the dinner at the Lord’s Café if the weather is nice.  In the event of rain, the give-away will be held at the Crossroads’ Learning Center located in the Big M Plaza in Whitley City.
