Grand Jury indicts 13

The McCreary County Grand Jury returned indictments against 13 individuals in 10 cases this month:

Darryl Vanover, of Whitley City, was indicted on one charge of Fleeing or Evading Police and one count of Wanton Endangerment First Degree after a February 29 incident where he allegedly ignored Trooper Tony Duncan’s command to stop running and engaged in conduct with indifference to human life – causing a danger of death or serious injury to other persons.

Matthew Sumner, of Pine Knot, was indicted on a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia for reportedly having in his possession a quantity of methamphetamine and items commonly used for ingestion/distribution on February 20.

Matthew Dixon, of Pine Knot, was indicted on one count of Criminal Abuse First Degree for allegedly intentionally abusing a minor on February 14 causing a danger of death or serious injury.

Donald Stephens, of Pine Knot, and Orville Daugherty, of Parkers Lake, were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia for reportedly having a quantity of methamphetamine and items commonly used for ingestion/distribution on October 18.

Stephens was also charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Intoxicants.

Stephen Jones and Brianna Jones, both of Parkers Lake, were indicted on counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia First Degree, Possession of a Legend Drug, and Possession of a Controlled Substance Third Degree for allegedly having a quantity of methamphetamine, Gabapentin and Alprazolam, as well as items commonly used for ingestion/distribution of illegal controlled substances on November 13.

Stephen Jones was also indicted on counts of OUI and Resisting Arrest.

Elmer Messer, and Willie Messer, both of Parkers Lake, were indicted on counts of Criminal Mischief and Theft by Unlawful Taking for allegedly damaging and taking phone lines owned by Highland Telephone on December 3.

Aaron Baird, of Strunk, was indicted on one count of Receiving Stolen Property over $500 for reportedly having a 2003 Dodge Ram truck, which had been stolen.

Carolyn R. Brassfield Gibson, of Pine Knot, was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument for reportedly possessing two forged checks on October 18.

She was also charged with being a Persistent Felony Offender after previous convictions in Pulaski County in 2010.

Jamie Gregory, of Stearns, was charged with Rape Second Degree for reportedly engaging in sexual intercourse with a child under 14 years of age.

Kristopher Bennett, of Pine Knot, was charged with Sexual Abuse First Degree for allegedly subjecting an individual to sexual contact through the use of forcible compulsion.
