Taking Flight

On Saturday, representatives of the McCreary Aerospace Academy set up at Krogers to garner interest in the aerospace program and promote the McCreary County Airport.  Interested children and teenagers, along with their parents, were given an orientation to the program and the opportunity to operate a flight simulator.  The McCreary Aerospace Academy is an independent, educational program providing middle school and high school students with a head start on the training needed to pursue a career in the aerospace industry.  Students of the Academy meet at the McCreary County Airport on weekends to learn aerospace engineering, manufacturing, flight/operations, and aircraft maintenance in a four year program.  Students can begin in middle school and graduate with experience, college credit, and even some industry level certifications.  For more information, contact Dr. Tim Smith at 502-320-9490 or by email at  Pictured left to right with instructor Dr. Tim Smith are McCreary Aerospace Academy students:  Adam Meadows, Bryson Bryant, Logan Creekmore, and Shane Meadows.
