Yamacraw Bridge Cleanup on March 25

In preparation for the high visitation season, Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area is partnering with UltraNautRunning, McCreary County, and Explore Kentucky Initiative for a trail and river cleanup along the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail, between the historic K&T Heritage Trail Bridge and the Yamacraw Bridge, in Stearns, Kentucky.

To participate, meet and sign in March 25 at the Highway 92 Yamacraw Bridge river access (west) parking lot off of State Route 1363 at 9 a.m. (ET).  The cleanup will conclude at 1 p.m.  Additional parking is located on the east side of the bridge at the Yamacraw day use area, as well as at the K&T Heritage Bridge parking lot south of Highway 92 on Route 1363.  Parking is limited and participants are encouraged to meet at the Big South Fork Scenic Railway depot in Stearns, Kentucky, and carpool.

Participants are asked to wear sturdy boots, long pants, long sleeved shirts, and bring water, insect repellent, and gloves.  Trash bags and trash grabbers will be provided.
