12 indicted by Grand Jury

A 22-year-old Winfield man is facing several charges after allegedly engaging an 11-year-old child in contact of a sexual nature over the internet on at least two occasions in February.

Nathan Hamby, of Winfield was indicted on four charges by the McCreary County Grand Jury this month relating to a pair of incidents where he reportedly had sexual contact with a young boy, and exchanged illicit photographs over Facebook messenger.

Hamby was indicted on a charge of Use of a Minor in a Sexual Performance with a victim Under 12 Years , Prohibited Use of Electronic Communications to Procure a Minor to Engage in Sexual Performance, Distribution of Obscene Matter to a Minor and Sexual Abuse in the First Degree.

Kentucky State Police Detective Billy Correll presented evidence in the hearing.

Other indictments include:

Randall New, of Whitley City, was charged with Tampering with Prisoner Monitoring Device for allegedly intentionally removing his electronic monitoring device on February 25.

Scott Navarro, of Pine Knot, was indicted on a charge of Operating Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Intoxicants and Wanton Endangerment for reportedly driving on February 18 while under the influence and causing a danger to three minor children in his vehicle at the time.

Billy Goodin, of Sawyer, was charged with Operating Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Receiving Stolen Property over $500, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Tampering with Physical Evidence for allegedly driving while under the influence, possessing a stolen vehicle, a needle and reportedly attempting to conceal said needle on March 5.

Helen Aston, of Oneida, was charged with Operating Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Wanton Endangerment and Criminal Mischief for reportedly driving under the influence of March 5, nearly striking another vehicle – causing danger of injury or death to the occupants of the other vehicle and causing damage to a guardrail with a value of $3035.

Jennifer Claxton, of Whitley City, and Eddie Dean Phillips, of Pine Knot were charged with Receiving Stolen Property for allegedly receiving and possessing two stolen air conditioners and a weed eater on December 26.

Bennie W. Smith, of Whitley City, was charged with Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration for allegedly failing to register with the KSP Sex Offender Registry as required by law.

Tyler Richmond, of Pine Knot, was charged with Assault First Degree for reportedly stabbing a victim on March 28, causing serious physical injury.

Richmond was also charged with being a Persistent Felony Offender after previous felony convictions of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Theft by Unlawful Taking and Criminal Mischief.

Jason Sutton, of Williamsburg, was charged with Operating Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Intoxicant, Fleeing or Evading Police, Resisting Arrest and Criminal Mischief for reportedly driving while under the influence on January 28, failing to obey the order by Trooper Jeremy Elliotte to stop, and damaging the cruiser while resisting the attempts to place him under arrest.

Billy Slaven, of Murfreesboro, was charged with Bail Jumping for allegedly failing to appear in McCreary County Circuit Court on felony charges pursuant to the terms of his bond.
