Todd Waters will become the new Principal at McCreary County Middle School next month.

After a search committee with the McCreary County Middle School Site Based Decision Making Council interviewed several candidates, a new Principal for the school has been chosen: Todd Waters.
The Site Based Council for the school announced their decision last week after a lengthy process of interviewing and reviewing potential candidates for the past several weeks.
Waters has been with the McCreary County School District for the past two years, serving as an instructor at the McCreary Academy. He has also served as the Head Coach for both the High School’s Girls Basketball and Softball teams.
He will vacate those positions and a search is underway for individuals to fill those posts.
Prior to his tenure in McCreary County Waters taught at Southern Middle School for ten years as an instructor.
Waters said he is looking forward to taking over the helm at MCMS, and plans to focus on student growth.
“I am excited for the opportunity,” Waters said. “We certainly want to continue working on improving test scores and focus on making the school student focused.”
Waters will officially start as Principal on July 5.
Rick Kenney had been serving as Interim Principal at the school since August, when then-Principal Clint Taylor accepted the Director of Pupil Personnel position. With the hiring Kenney will return to his Assistant Principal position at McCreary Central High School.
McCreary County School’s Superintendent Mike Cash stated there were four candidates who interviewed for the position. (A fifth candidate did apply, but later withdrew the application.)
In related news Cash announced the new Principal for Pine Knot Elementary School. Earlier this year the McCreary County Board of Education voted to combine Pine Knot Primary and Pine Knot Intermediate schools in to one school.
Rebecca Blakely, who had served as Principal at PKI, will remain in her Principal position over the new school. Stuart Shepherd, PKP Principal, will now become the Director of Transportation.
