Lung Cancer Awareness and Prevention

Lake Cumberland District Health Department partnered with the McCreary County School System to allow 6th grade students to compete in a Campaign Project centered on lung cancer awareness and prevention. The  goal of this project was for the 6th_grade students at Whitley City Elementary and Pine Knot Intermediate to work in groups to develop their choice of a n educational campaign. The campaigns were to bring awareness to fellow school peers and adults within the community regarding the high rates of lung cancer in McCreary County and information on lung cancer prevention. The top two campaigns were awarded a cash prize for their hard work. All of these students put forth a lot of time and effort into their projects.
