Rockabilly Ball, Pin up Contest, and Car Show scheduled for this weekend in Stearns
The Moonshiner’s Run Car Show will return this year on Friday, July 7 through Saturday, July 8 at its new location in Stearns, Kentucky. Organizers are trying a new approach this year by tying the Scenic Railway and the history of Stearns with the car show. The Run will rev up on Friday, July 7 at 5:00 p.m. with registration and a horsepower competition from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday night will see a pin up contest at 8:00 p.m. in the Stearns Heritage Hall. Pin up contestants wearing classy vintage attire from the 40s through 60s era will have the opportunity to win some cash and be crowned the new Moonshiner’s Run Princess. Along with enjoying the pin up contest at the Heritage Hall, everyone is invited to dust off their dancing shoes and dress to the era of the 50s for a night of dancing and great music during the Rockabilly Ball.
The Moonshiner’s Run will kick into full throttle on Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. with the main “Show & Shine” event, more rockabilly music, vendors with food and crafts, and a swap meet. Newly inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, the high energy band, Zippy Clutch, from Nashville, TN will be performing live Friday night at the Rockabilly Ball and on Saturday during the car show.
The first two hundred registrants for the Show & Shine will receive custom made Moonshiner’s Jugs, hand crafted by Kentucky Coal Crafters in Stearns. The show is open to all makes and models with special awards available for longest distance, club participation, kids’ choice, most overall horsepower, and horsepower Ford/Chevy/Dodge/Sport Compact. The Show & Shine is a great time to meet other enthusiasts and admire all the vehicles on display.
