County Park Begins “No Cash” Policy for Rentals
Beginning August 1, 2017, only checks or money orders will be accepted as payment for the rental of facilities at the McCreary County Park and/or the Sand Hill RV Camp. According to Magistrate and McCreary County Park Board Member Roger Phillips, the Park’s move away from accepting cash payments will provide better documentation for fiscal audits and strengthen internal accounting procedures. The Board also agreed to check with the County Attorney about developing a more specific general waiver of liability to be signed by anyone renting the facilities.
In additional business, the Park Board voted to approve Darlene Price’s request to host a “Music in the Park” event later in the year. The event will feature local vendors and live music with several bands performing.
Board members also discussed use of the splash pad, noting heavy use on the weekends. Sidewalks from the Sr. Citizen building to and around the splash pad will soon be completed. The completion of the sidewalks will eliminate the need for sand around the area.
The Park Board’s regular monthly meeting is scheduled on the first Monday of each month at 5:30 at the Sr. Citizens’ Building in the Park.
