Manslaughter leads indictments
The man accused of crashing his vehicle while intoxicated and causing the death of Jimmy Daugherty, was formally indicted by the McCreary County Grand Jury this month; one of 13 individuals charged in 12 total indictments released.
Michael Crabtree, of Oakland, Kentucky, was charged with one count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree for allegedly “wantonly operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants,” leading to the fatal crash.
According to the accident report at the time of the incident, Crabtree was reportedly traveling northbound on US 27 in a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt when he crossed the center line and struck Daugherty, who was riding a Honda motorcycle head-on.
According to Kentucky revised Statutes, manslaughter 2nd is considered a Class C felony and can carry a sentence of 5 to 10 years.
Steven Johnson, of Ferguson, and Matthew Harness, of Burnside, were indicted for their involvement in an alleged kidnapping case last month.
The men were arrested after officers received a report of a naked man claiming he had been assaulted and kidnapped.
Deputies spoke with the victim who stated three individuals in a van had picked him up, held him at gunpoint and assaulted him with a handgun. The victim said he lost consciousness at some point during the incident, then was thrown from the van without clothes.
Johnson and Harness were arrested later that evening, along with a third individual; who was not included in the latest indictment.
The Grand Jury levied three counts against the pair – Unlawful Imprisonment First Degree, Robbery First Degree and Assault Fourth Degree for reportedly restraining the victim, holding a gun to his head and using physical force in the act of the theft.
James Ridenour, of Parkers Lake, was indicted on one count of Theft by Unlawful Taking of the Value of $10,000 or More for allegedly taking miscellaneous automobile parts owned by the Earl Brooks estate on April 20.
James Light, of Stearns, was charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance for reportedly possessing a quantity of Oxycodone for the purpose of sale on April 10. He was also charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon for possessing a firearm at the time of the arrest.
Crystal Smith, of Pine Knot, was indicted on counts of Tampering With Physical Evidence, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Fleeing or Evading Police after a January 3 incident where she reportedly disobeyed an order to stop from McCreary County Sheriff’s Deputy Cody Stephens, was found to have items commonly used for the ingestion or distribution of illegal controlled substances and attempted to destroy or conceal evidence.
Tommy Vanover, of Strunk, was charged with Tampering With Physical Evidence, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Controlled Substance after being allegedly found with a quantity of Methamphetamine, items commonly used for the ingestion or distribution of illegal controlled substances and attempted to destroy or conceal evidence on March 1.
Gary Baker, of Lexington, was indicted on counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Intoxicants Second Offense, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug paraphernalia for reportedly driving under the influence, possessing a quantity of methamphetamine for the purpose of sale and having items commonly used for the ingestion or distribution of illegal controlled substances on March 15.
Randy Lyons, of Whitley City, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia for allegedly being found with a quantity of methamphetamine and items commonly used for the ingestion or distribution of illegal controlled substances on May 8.
Amanda Vanover, of Parkers Lake, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance First Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance Third Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia for allegedly being found with a quantity of methamphetamine, a Xanax pill and items commonly used for the ingestion or distribution of illegal controlled substances on March 6.
Eddie Mobley, of Stearns, was indicted on counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance Third Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance Second Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia for reportedly being found in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine, a Suboxone and Xanax pill and items commonly used for the ingestion or distribution of illegal controlled substances on May 22.
Tyler Pietschman, of Sewickly, Pennsylvania, was charged with Possess/View Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor for allegedly having illicit materials depicting a sexual performance by a minor on June 18.
Jeremy Ridner, of Pine Knot, was charged with Flagrant Non-Support for allegedly failing to make Court ordered child support payments for not less than six consecutive months for an arrearage of over $1,000.
