Another armed robbery attempt
McCreary County Sheriff Randy Waters is investigating another armed robbery attempt at a local convenience store; Becky’s One Stop in Whitley City.
The latest incident occurred around 4:24 a.m. Sunday morning as a male subject dressed in a zip-up camouflage jacket with hood and wearing a green ski mask entered the store brandishing a handgun and demanding money from the clerk on duty.
The clerk refused to open the register and the subject fled the scene without causing any injuries and without any money.
Sheriff Waters said he is investigating leads in to the possible identity of the suspect, and believes this attempt may be related to a robbery attempt in Stearns at Fastway last month.
The Sheriff is asking that anyone with information that could help lead to the identification, apprehension and prosecution of the suspect to contact his office at 376-2322, McCreary 911 or the Kentucky State Police at 606-878-6622.
