Rejuvenated Lady Raiders shut out Knox Central, 3-0

BARBOURVILLE – It didn’t take the McCreary Central Lady Raiders long to get back into the win column following a disappointing loss to Somerset over the weekend. The Lady Raiders landed in the win column two days later, shutting out host Knox Central 3-0 in an early-season girls’ high school soccer game on Monday.

With the win, McCreary Central moved to 2-1.

Knox Central opened its season 0-1 with the loss.

The Jennifer Stogsdill-coached Lady Raiders excelled offensively and defensively throughout the early-season game versus Knox Central.

Rylie King led McCreary Central to the win, scoring two goals for the Lady Raiders. King was active on the offensive end for visiting McCreary Central in each half.

Accompanying King in the McCreary Central scoring column, MaKenzi Cox netted one goal.

McCreary Central returned to the win column after splitting its first two games with Clinton County and Somerset. The Lady Raiders defeated Clinton County 4-1 in a season opener on Thursday, Aug. 17.

McCreary Central and Knox Central are scheduled to meet again later on in the current campaign. The Lady Raiders are due to host Knox Central for a home match on Sept. 4.
