By: Steve LeMaster

SOMERSET – McCreary Central had the tough task of facing host Somerset in a girls’ high school soccer game over the weekend. Somerset moved ahead early and never faltered in the contest, pulling away to defeat the Lady Raiders 9-0.

McCreary Central slipped to 1-1 with the loss.

With the win, Somerset evened its record to 1-1.

McCreary Central was forced to play from behind throughout the contest.

“The girls knew going in that it would be a tough game,” McCreary Central Coach Jennifer Stogsdill confided.

Most of Somerset’s offense went through one player — Audrey Anderson. The highly productive Anderson scored eight of the Lady Jumpers’ nine goals in the victory.
Rounding out the Somerset individual scoring, Olivia Stevens netted one goal.

Milli Moore provided assists on two of the Lady Jumpers’ nine goals. Another Somerset player, Jacey Boling, distributed one assist in the winning effort.

Knox Central is slated to host Somerset for a game on Sept. 2.

In a junior varsity girls’ soccer game on Saturday, Somerset edged McCreary Central 2-1;.
