Lady Raiders drop match to Cumberland Co.

McCreary Central ended the month of August with a loss on the hardwood. Host Cumberland County shut out McCreary Central 2-0 in a high school volleyball match on Thursday, Aug. 31.

With the loss, McCreary Central slipped to 6-9.

Cumberland County, which hails from the 4th Region, improved to 2-7 with the win.

Homestanding Cumberland County won the first set 25-19.

Determined Cumberland County held on to win the second set 25-22.

McCreary Central visited Cumberland County for its first match since competing in the Berea Lady Pirates Invitational in Berea on Saturday, Aug. 26.

Earlier in August, McCreary Central had hosted its invitational tournament.

During the month of August, Wade Davis-coached McCreary Central notched wins over Clinton County, Bell County, Jellico (Tenn.), Berea, Lynn Camp and Adair County. The Raiders have suffered additional losses to Jellico (Tenn.), Estill County, South Laurel, North Laurel, Southwestern, Garrard County, Powell County and Madison Southern.

McCreary Central is over halfway to its win total from the 2016 season. The Raiders ended the 2016 season 11-24 following a loss to Wayne County in the opening round of the 48th District Volleyball Tournament.
