Lady Raiders fall to Lady Jaguars

The McCreary Central volleyball team remained in the loss column on the road earlier in the week. Host East Jessamine shut out the Raiders 2-0 in a mid-season high school volleyball match on Monday.

With the loss, McCreary Central slipped to 6-10.

Nicholas County improved to 3-13 with the win.

The Raiders remained in the loss column after suffering a shutout loss to Cumberland County on Thursday, Aug. 31.

Familiar foes, McCreary Central and East Jessamine are 12th Region rivals,.

McCreary Central pushed East Jessamine throughout the non-district contest. East Jessamine defeated McCreary Central 25-21 in the first set. The Jaguars faced even more resistance in the second set before eventually winning 25-23.

McCreary Central is scheduled to visit Lincoln County on Thursday. The Raiders have additional regular-season remaining versus Williamsburg, Cumberland, Wayne County, Jellico (Tenn.), Bell County, Southwestern, Clinton County, Russell County, Barbourville and Lynn Camp.

The Raiders are under the direction of head coach Wade Davis and compete in the 48th District. At press time, McCreary Central remained one of the 12th Region’s top 10 teams.

McCreary Central will take the floor in the 48th District Volleyball Tournament in October.
