Raiders place sixth in CatBird Classic

LONDON – The McCreary Central boys’ cross country team placed sixth in the CatBird Classic in London on Saturday.

Individually, McCreary Central senior Jordan Tucker finished third in 17:52.69.

Tucker finished behind Corbin eighth-grader Sean Simmons (17:45.00) and North Laurel senior Zack Collins, who won the meet in 17:39.34.

McCreary Central placed sixth behind South Laurel (5), Corbin (4), Pulaski County (3), North Laurel (2) and Lafayette (1) in the team standings. The Raiders finished ahead of Somerset (7), Knox Central (8), Williamsburg (9) and Barbourville (10),

Tucker was the only Raider to finish inside the CatBird Classic’s Top 10.

McCreary Central’s individual results from the CatBird Classic were as follows: 3. Jordan Tucker, 17:52.69; 12. Aiden Tucker, 18:35.62; 36. Harley Waters, 19:52.37; 40. Ethan New, 19:59.41; 48. Tyler Strunk, 20:17.68; 58. Christopher Gearing, 20:53.37; 81. Zach Gibson, 22:30.96; 100. Dillon Vanover, 25:52.03; 101. Alex Bryant, 25:54.18.

A total of 110 runners competes in the North Laurel-hosted CatBird Classic. McCreary Central competed against some longtime rivals during the North Laurel meet.

Team results from the CatBird Classic were as follows: 1. Lafayette, 57; 2. North Laurel, 75; 3. Pulaski County, 83; 4. Corbin, 94; 5. South Laurel, 114; 6. McCreary Central, 121; 7. Somerset, 184; 8. Knox Central, 190; 9. Williamsburg, 263; 10. Barbourville, 285.
