Raiders edge Dunbar, 22-21

The Raiders overcame a 15-0 halftime deficit to rally back in the final minute of the game for an exciting 22-21 win over Dunbar.
McCreary Central claimed its second straight in Week 4 of the 2017 high school football season, edging visiting Paul Laurence Dunbar 22-21 on Friday night.
Fans in attendance at the McCreary Central-Paul Laurence Dunbar football game were treated to a thrilling victory for the Raiders.
The Raiders, under the direction of head coach Lucas Ford, remained in the win column after defeating Fort Knox 63-30 in a high-scoring gridiron affair one week earlier.
McCreary Central evened its record to 2-2 with the win.
With the loss, Paul Laurence Dunbar, a team out of Lexington, slipped to 0-4.
The Bulldogs had dropped games to Southwestern, George Rogers Clark and Tates Creek prior to taking the field for the matchup versus McCreary Central on Friday night.
Brandon Troxell, Ryan Jones and Hunter Jones continued to lead the Raiders offensively. Troxell, who rushed 23 times for 181 yards and six touchdowns in McCreary Central’s convincing victory over Fort Knox, paced the Raiders on the ground against Paul Laurence Dunbar. Hunter Jones, who completed 10-of-17 passes for 168 yards and one touchdown in the win over Fort Knox, along with Ryan Jones, helped to lead the Raiders.

Deefnsively, Nathan “Porkchop” Prosser recorded 17 tackles for the Raiders in the victory. Dakeaton Jones followed, delivering 16 tackles for McCreary Central in the win.
The Raiders are 2-2 after opening the 2017 season with back-to-back losses to Perry County Central and South Laurel.
McCreary Central has regular-season games remaining versus Bell County, Corbin, Casey County, Jackson County and Lynn Camp. The Raiders compete in Class 3A, District 8.
McCreary Central will remain at home to host Bell County in a 2017 Class 3A, District 8 opener on Friday, Sept. 22. Kickoff for the McCreary Central-Bell County football game is set for 7:30 p.m..
