Raiders to meet Wayne County in 48th District Volleyball Tournament

McCreary Central is set to meet Wayne County in the opening round of the 48th District Volleyball Tournament at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 16.

The Raiders, under the direction of head coach Wade Davis, ended their regular-season with a shutout win over Barbourville. Productive McCreary Central beat Barbourville 25-2, 25-15, 25-7 in a regular-season finale on Tuesday, Oct. 3.

McCreary Central concluded the regular-season 13-15.

Wayne County is 18-12 heading into a regular-season finale at Corbin on Thursday.

The Raiders notched additional wins over Clinton County, Bell County, Berea, Jellico (Tenn.), Lynn Camp, Adair County, Williamsburg and Cumberland County during the regular-season.

The winner of the McCreary Central-Wayne County contest will advance to meet Southwestern in the 48th District championship at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

High school volleyball teams from throughout the state will compete in district tournaments next week.
