Philips competes in Class 2A, Region 5 Girls’ Cross Country Meet

MONTICELLO – Cortney Phillips represented McCreary Central in the Class 2A, Region 5 Girls’ Cross Country Meet at Cave Lake Park on Saturday, finishing 51st overall.

Phillips was the lone female runner from McCreary Central to compete in the region meet. A freshman, Phillips finished the region event in 31:20.33.

Rockcastle County sophomore Victoria Dotson won the Class 2A, Region 5 individual title in 19:34.44.

Phillips will be back to compete for the McCreary Central girls’ cross country team during the 2018 season.

Boyle County, which had three runners finish in the Top 10, claimed the team title.

The team standings from the Class 2A, Region 5 Girls’ Cross Country Meet were as follows: 1. Boyle County, 49; 2.

Corbin, 69; 3. Casey County, 70; 4. Mercer County, 84; 5. Rockcastle County, 100; 6. Lincoln County, 145; 7. Knox Central, 175.
