Three arrested on drug charges

Three individuals were arrested on trafficking charges early Sunday morning at Parkland Motel after authorities were searching for a wanted suspect.

According to McCreary County Sheriff Randy Waters officers went to the motel after receiving information that William R. Cross, 35, of Whitley City, who was entered in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as a wanted person, was staying at a room of the motel. Cross was on the national directory after reportedly removing a court-ordered monitoring device in Tennessee.

Around 1:00 a.m. officers knocked on the motel room door and Cross answered. In plain sight behind Cross were several syringes, cash, and suspected methamphetamine, as well as a female subject apparently passed out on the bed.

As officers made entry in to the room, a second female was located in the bathroom and apparently was caught in the act of using a syringe on her wrist. She attempted to hide the syringe in her pants, but surrendered it when pressed by officers.

Confiscated from the room was $444 in cash, 2.4 grams of what the suspects identified as meth, 1 suboxone strip, scales and other drug parpaphernalia.

In addition to Cross, Ashlyn N. Souleyrette, 19, of Pine Knot and Megan A. Blackstone, 28, of Pioneer, Tennessee, were arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, 1st Degree and lodged in the Leslie County Detention Center.

Sheriff Waters, Deputy Alex Jones, KSP Trooper Harrison Wells and Fish and Wildlife Sergeant Chris King conducted the arrests.

All three subjects were lodged in the Leslie County Detention Center.
