Lady Raiders outlast Garrard County in double overtime, 63-57

LANCASTER – The McCreary Central Lady Raiders halted a two-game losing skid on Saturday, outlasting the host Garrard County Lady Lions 63-57 in double overtime.
With the win, McCreary Central improved to 3-5.
Garrard County dropped to 4-4 with the loss.
McCreary Central shot 37.5 percent (24-of-64) from the field. The Lady Raiders were 3-of-19 from 3-point range.
McCreary Central shot 57.1 percent (12-of-21) from the free throw line.
Allyson Anderson led McCreary Central with 20 points. McCreary Central featured three scorers in double figures as Elizabeth Anderson added 15 points and Lauryn Phillips chipped in 11 points.
Macey Welchel (seven points), Julia King (six points) and Celya Kiser (four points) provided additional scoring for the Lady Raiders in the victory.
Inside, Elizabeth Anderson and Welchel pulled down eight rebounds apiece for visiting McCreary Central.
The Lady Raiders returned to the win column following back-to-back losses to South Laurel and North Laurel.
Garrard County shot 36 percent (18-of-50) from the field. The Lady Lions were 6-of-19 (31.6 percent) from 3-point range.
Garrard County shot 68.2 percent (15-of-22) from the free throw line.
Four Garrard County players reached double figures in the scoring column. Leading the Lady Lions offensively, Brittany Butner and Ashlynn Clark scored 12 points apiece for the Lady Lions.
Olivia Saylor provided a double-double for Garrard County, scoring 11 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.
Another Garrard County player, Fran Montgomery, finished with 11 points in the Lady Lions’ setback.
The McCreary Central and Garrard County girls’ basketball teams aren’t scheduled to meet again this season.
