Phillips leads Lady Raiders to win over Berea

BEREA – Lauryn Phillips scored a game-high 24 points to lead visiting McCreary Central past Berea 65-44 in a girls’ high school basketball game on Monday night.
Phillips connected on five 3-point field goals for the Lady Raiders.
With the win, McCreary Central improved to 4-5.
Berea dropped to 2-4 with the loss.
Three different McCreary Central players reached double figures in the scoring column. Allyson Anderson netted 16 points and Elizabeth Anderson added 15 points for the Lady Raiders in the convincing victory.
Excelling offensively, McCreary Central shot 53.7 percent (22-of-41) from the field. The Lady Raiders shot 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from 3-point range.
McCreary Central was perfect from the free throw line, finishing 13-of-13.
Macey Welchel (six points), Julia King (two points) and Hannah Neal (two points) rounded out the individual scoring for the Lady Raiders.
Elizabeth Anderson led McCreary Central inside, grabbing six rebounds.
Dominant McCreary Central forced Berea to play from behind throughout the matchup.
McCreary Central notched its second straight win.
The Lady Raiders are hosting their annual holiday tournament through Saturday (Dec. 23). McCreary Central was facing Bell County in the holiday tournament at press time on Wednesday. The McCreary Central-Bell County girls’ basketball game ended too late to make this edition.
