Candidate filing deadline approaching

Less than a month remains for interested candidates to officially register with County Clerk Eric Haynes’ office to be included on the ballot for the Primary Election in May.
In all 41 candidates have declared so far in a County-wide race that will see every local office up for election this year.
Since our last update four new candidates have thrown their hat in to the ring, including two for the same magisterial seat.
Former McCreary County Sheriff’s Deputy Joe Horne announced his plans to run for Sheriff in the Republican Party.
Horne joins Constables Freddie Clark and Donald Daugherty as well as newcomer Mark E. Keith on the Republican ballot. Incumbent Sheriff Randy Waters is unopposed so far on the Democrat ticket.
Two new names have emerged to challenge Magistrate Jason Mann in the 3rd District. Clayton Worley and Ronald King have officially entered the race and will square off against the incumbent in May. Democrats will have David D. Price and Rodney D. Heath to choose from on the ballot, while Independent Johnny R. Corder will appear on the November General Election ballot.
Republican Jeff Tucker joins the race for District 1 Constable, joining Incumbent Bill Hayes and Darrell Hansford on the Republican ticket. Chuck Duncan is the lone Democrat in the race as of Tuesday.
A challenger to Hal Rogers has emerged as Gerardo Serrano has declared to run for United States Representative for the 5th District.
January 30 will be the final day for interested candidates to register in the County Clerk’s office to be considered for the Primary Election.
To date the candidates who have filed are as follows:
Judge Executive – Jimmie “Bevo” Greene (R) and Vicki Kidd (R).
Sheriff – Randy Waters (D), Freddie Clark (R), Mark Keith (R), Donald Daugherty (R) and Joe Horne (R).
Circuit Court Clerk – Othel King (R).
County Attorney- Conley Chaney (R) and Austin Price (R).
County Clerk- Eric Haynes (R).
Jailer- Jessie Hatfield (R), Joshua King (R) and Tony Hansford (I).
Coroner- Tim Corder (R) and Teddy Coffey (R).
PVA – Bruce Lominac (R).
Magistrate District 1- William “Bill” Hale, Jr. (R).
Magistrate District 2 – Roger Phillips (R) and Butler E. Waters (I).
Magistrate District 3 – Jason Mann (R), Clayton Worley (R), Ronald King (R),David Price (D), Rodney Heath (D) and Johnny Corder (I).
Magistrate District 4- Lonnie Creekmore (R), Duston Baird (R) and Hope R. Daugherty (D).
Constable District 1- Bill Hayes (R), Darrell Hansford (R), Jeff Tucker (R) and Chuck Duncan (D).
Constable District 2- Tyler Watkins (R), Josh Goodin (R) and Brad Waters (R).
Constable District 3 – Kenny Kidd (R), Thomas Corder (R) and Cody Stephens (R).
Constable District 4 – David Kilby (R) and Charles Perry (R).
Kentucky Supreme Court 3rd Division – Dan Ballou.
Commonwealth’s Attorney 34th District – Ronnie Bowling Jr. (R) and Grahm Trimble (R).
U.S. Representative – Harold “Hal” Rogers (R).
State Representative – Yovany Pino (D).
