Raiders to face Jackson County in Iron Warrior Classic

SOMERSET – McCreary Central will face Jackson County in the Iron Warrior Classic at Southwestern High School on Saturday.
The Iron Warrior Classic, sponsored by the United States Army, will feature four boys’ high school basketball games. This year’s event, the second of its kind at Southwestern High School, will raise money for the Go4TheGoal Foundation, which provides assistance for families with children battling pediatric cancer.
Tip-off for the McCreary Central-Jackson County game is set for 4 p.m.
Other matchups set for the Iron Warrior Classic are Allen County-Scottsville vs. Nelson County; Montgomery County vs. Clinton County and Southwestern vs. Bourbon County.
Following a five-point loss to host Russell County on Tuesday night, McCreary Central slipped to 6-9. Now, the Raiders are busy preparing for a 48th District home game versus Wayne County. Familiar foe Wayne County is slated to visit McCreary Central on Thursday night, two night before the Raiders are scheduled to participate in the Iron Warrior Classic.
Jackson County is 9-5 through its first 14 games. The Generals are scheduled to host North Laurel in a key 49th District game on Friday night.
