McCreary Central falls to Bell County

STEARNS – McCreary County dropped its latest home game as visiting Bell County pulled away to win 62-38 in a girls’ high school basketball matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
With the loss, McCreary Central slipped to 7-12.
Bell County improved to 10-7 with the win.
A team out of the 13th Region, Bell County shot 38.2 percent (21-of-55) from the field. The Lady Cats were 5-of-11 (45.5 percent) from 3-point range.
Bell County shot 75 percent (15-of-20) from the free throw line.
Dominating inside, Bell County outrebounded the Lady Raiders 45-15.
Four Bell County players reached double figures in the scoring column. Abby Harris scored 17 points while Brittney Cupp contributed 15 points and a game-high 23 rebounds in the Lady Cats’ victory.
Britany Davis also scored 15 points for the Lady Cats.
Accompanying three of her Bell County teammates in double figures, Karlee Cox tossed in 10 points,
Brea Browning (two points), Lindsay Bryant (two points) and Abigail Cornett (one point) provided additional scoring as the Lady Cats prevailed.
McCreary Central shot only 28.3 percent (13-of-46) from the field. The Lady Raiders were 2-of-10 from 3-point range.
McCreary Central shot 83.3 percent (10-of-12) from the free throw line.
Four players accounted for all of the McCreary Central individual scoring. Lauryn Phillips paced the Lady Raiders with a team-high 12 points.
Allyson Anderson joined Phillips in double figures for the Lady Raiders, scoring 11 points.
Macey Welchel barely missed double figures in the McCreary Central scoring column, registering nine points.
Elizabeth Anderson led McCreary Central inside, securing a team-high eight rebounds, and rounded out the Lady Raiders’ individual scoring, chipping in six points.
