Driver in fatal crash indicted on murder charges

After a month off for the holidays the McCreary County Grand Jury was back in session this month with a busy slate ahead of them, issuing 27 indictments against 32 individuals this week.
Michael Crabtree, of Oakland, Kentucky, was indicted on a count of murder for his alleged role in a May 20, 2017 crash that claimed the life of 55-year-old Jimmy Daugherty. According to police reports at the time it was determined Crabtree was traveling northbound on US 27 in a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt when he crossed the center line and struck Daugherty, who was riding a Honda motorcycle, head-on. Crabtree was originally arrested on a count of Manslaughter in the case, but suspected drug use at the time of the crash may have elevated the charge.
The indictment alleges Crabtree “wantonly drove a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs and engaged in conduct which created a grave risk to another person and in doing so caused the death of Jimmy Daugherty.”
Steven M. Rennick, of Fairfield, Ohio, was indicted on a charge of Theft by Deception of the Value of $500 or more for allegedly knowingly and unlawfully stopping payment on a $2,000 check for a payment on a 1995 Kenworth truck.
Casey M. Strunk, of Pine Knot, was indicted on a count of Possession of a Controlled Substance First Degree for reportedly being found in possession of a quantity of Methamphetamine on September 12.
Anthony Adkins, of Oneida, and Jonathan Chambers, of Hellenwood, were named in a six-count indictment. Adkins was charged with Theft of Identity, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Public Intoxication for allegedly knowingly and unlawfully using personal identification information of another individual without their consent on November 12, and also having items commonly used for the ingestion/distribution of illegal controlled substances and being in a public place while under the influence of intoxicants.
Chambers was charged with one count of Operating a Motor Vehicle while Under the Influence of Intoxicants. Both subjects were indicted on two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance first degree for reportedly possessing a quantity of Oxycodone and Methamphetamine.
Cody Morris, of Franklin, Indiana, was charged with one count of Fleeing or Evading Police and one count of Criminal Mischief Second Degree for allegedly knowingly and unlawfully failing to obey signals of KSP Troopers to stop a vehicle driven by the defendant in an attempt to elude law enforcement officials and damaging Trooper Wendell Higginbotham’s patrol vehicle on June 15.
Ronald Sellers, of Pine Knot, was charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance First Degree for reportedly having a quantity of Methamphetamine on his possession on November 25.
Adam Watson, of Parkers Lake, faces charges of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance First Degree, Assault Third Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, for allegedly having a quantity of Methamphetamine for resale, fighting officers Alex Jones and Larry Lewis – causing injury and having items commonly used for the ingestion/distribution of illegal controlled substances on October 26.
Corey Jeffers was indicted on one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance First Degree for reportedly having in his possession a quantity of Methamphetamine on October 20.
Brittany Coffey, of Strunk, was indicted on a count of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance First Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia for allegedly possessing a quantity of Methamphetamine for resale and having items commonly used for the ingestion/distribution of illegal controlled substances on December 28.
Tarence Jeffers was charged with Fleeing or Evading Police First Degree for reportedly failing to obey signals of Deputy Alex Jones to stop running in an attempt to elude law enforcement on December 22. He also faces a count of being a Persistent Felony Offender after previous felony convictions in 2016 and 2014.
Corey Gregory, was indicted on a count of Fleeing or Evading Police and two counts of Wanton Endangerment First Degree for allegedly failing to obey signals of Deputy Alex Jones to stop running in an attempt to elude law enforcement and engaged in conduct which created a danger of death or serious physical injury to two individuals on December 31.
Gregory also faces a count of being a Persistent Felony Offender after a previous felony conviction in 2017, for which he is still on probation.
Charlene Doran, of Pine Knot, was indicted on charges of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance First Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering With Physical Evidence, Criminal Mischief and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon for reportedly selling a quantity of Methamphetamine to a confidential informant on October 16, having a quantity of Heroin, destroying, concealing, removing or altering physical evidence, tampering with property so as to knowingly endanger a person and property of another and being in possession of a firearm. Doran also faces a charge of Being a Persistent Felony Offender after previous convictions in 2009 and 2017.
Lance Coffey, of Stearns, was indicted on counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Controlled Substance First Degree and Possession of a Controlled Substance in an Improper Container for reportedly having in his possession a quantity of Morphine in a container other than what it was originally delivered and having items commonly used for the ingestion/distribution of illegal controlled substances on March 16.
Dewayne Day, of Hellenwood, was charged with Theft of Identity and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without an Operator’s License for reportedly driving without a license and using another individual’s identity without their consent on August 29.
Tina Kidd, of Strunk, was charged with counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance First Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance Third Degree and Public Intoxication after reportedly being found with quantities of Methamphetamine and Neurontin on November 15, while being in a public place while under the influence of intoxicants.
Michael Walls, of Whitley City, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance First Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance Third Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence after reportedly being found with quantities of Methamphetamine and an unspecified controlled substance on October 11, and destroying, concealing, removing or altering physical evidence.
Jordan Musgrove, of Pine Knot, faces charges of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance First Degree, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance Third Degree, Trafficking in Marijuana Less than 8 Ounces and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia for allegedly being found with a quantity of Methamphetamine, Suboxone, Marijuana and items commonly used for the ingestion/distribution of illegal controlled substances on October 1. Musgrove also faces a count of being a Persistent Felony Offender after a previous conviction in 2016.
Travis Frederick, of Parkers Lake, was indicted on counts of Criminal Mischief First Degree, Criminal Mischief Third Degree and Burglary Second Degree for allegedly unlawfully entering a residence by kicking in the door, damaging a vehicle and the door on November 9.
Jason C. Walker, of Hellenwood, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance First Degree, Possession of Marijuana Under 8 Ounces and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, for reportedly being found with a quantity of Methamphetamine, marijuana and items commonly used for the ingestion/distribution of illegal controlled substances on March 8.
Tammy Daugherty, of Whitley City, was charged with a count of Possession of a Controlled Substance First Degree for allegedly being found with a quantity of Methamphetamine on March 14.
Alisa Slaven, of Pine Knot and Billy Correll, of Monticello, were charged together with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance First Degree for reportedly being found with a quantity of Methamphetamine on June 1.
William K. Gibson, of Stearns, was charged with Fleeing or Evading Police and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon for allegedly failing to obey signals of police in an attempt to elude law enforcement while in possession of a firearm on December 1. Gibson also faces Persistent Felony Offender charges after a previous felony conviction in 2008.
William Branscum, of Parkers Lake, was indicted on six counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and four counts of Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon after allegedly being found in possession of several weapons on December 22.
Trevor Phillips, of Whitley City, was charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance First Degree, Trafficking in Marijuana of Less than 8 Ounces, and Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon for reportedly having quantities of Methamphetamine and marijuana for resale while having a knife on his person on July 25.
Tyler Mason, of Pine Knot, was indicted on one count of Theft by Unlawful Taking of $500 or More for allegedly knowingly and unlawfully taking a 4-wheeler on June 28.
Alice Swain, of Pine Knot, was charged with Receiving Stolen Property of $500 or More for allegedly knowingly and unlawfully receiving and possessing assorted personal items which had been stolen on June 28.
Tyler Rose, of Whitley City, Rowdy Rose, of Stearns, Vernon Jones, of Parkers Lake, and Jonathan Holsinger, of Georgetown, were jointly indicted on a count of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance First Degree for reportedly being found in their possession over 2 grams of Methamphetamine for the purpose of sale on February 5.
