Paige, Jones named to All-48th District Tournament Team

MONTICELLO – A pair of McCreary Central Raiders earned All-48th District Tournament Team honors. McCreary Central’s Derrick Paige and Hunter Jones were named to the All-48th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament Team.
Wayne County ended McCreary Central’s 2017-18 season, defeating the Raiders 74-64 in the semifinals of the 48th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament on Monday. Feb. 19. After outlasting McCreary Central, tournament host Wayne County rolled past Southwestern 39-24 in a low-scoring 48th District championship game on Friday, Feb. 23.
Hunter Jones scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed four rebounds in McCreary Central’s double overtime loss to Wayne County in the 48th District Tournament. He was 8-of-13 from inside of the arc for the Raiders.
Paige turned in a double-double for McCreary Central in the postseason matchup versus Wayne County, scoring 19 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. The productive Paige drained six field goals and was 7-of-10 from the free throw line for the Raiders.
Both Wayne County and Southwestern advanced to the 12th Region Boys’ Basketball Tournament at Pulaski County High School.
