Occupational Tax collections for the month of February were down significantly from previous years, making total collections for the month the lowest since 2013.
According to the Judge Executive’s Office $143,209.60 was collected for the month, with $95,473 directed to the General Fund and $47,736 to the Jail Fund.
The monthly totals were down $53,000 from last year, and more than $93,000 from the previous two years. February 2013, the first year monthly totals were released, had collections totaling only $85,000.
Through eight months of the fiscal year just over $751,000 have been added to the General Fund, down about $1,000 from the last fiscal year and $22,000 from 2015-16.
With an average monthly collection of just over $93,000, projections for the year stand at $1.127 million, which would still be more than was collected during the last fiscal year. If collections over the final quarter match last year’s fourth quarter the total added to the General Fund would equal last year’s total collections at $1.16 million.
The Jail Fund has had nearly $376,000 added thorough the extra half-cent tax imposed last year.
