Local Book Signing

Paul Eugene Jones, a 1962 graduate of McCreary County High School, was surrounded by family, friends, and former classmates as he sold and signed copies of his newly released novel, “A Rose Remains Forever,” while at the Dairy Bar in Whitley City on Saturday. The novel is a fictional account of growing up in McCreary County where Jones spent the first seventeen years of his life. Currently a resident of Tiffin, Ohio, Jones is a retired high school teacher and girls’ basketball coach who donated two dollars for every book sold on Saturday at the book signing to the McCreary High School girls’ softball team. Jones and his wife frequently visit McCreary County and the Dairy Bar. Jones, who could hear the music playing at the Dairy Bar at his childhood home while he was growing up, has fond memories of the local eatery. Jones worked on the novel intermittently for several years. He is pictured (seated) with his wife and high school friends David Black and Charles Sumner.
