McCreary Central loses one-run decision to Campbell County (Tenn.)

JACKSBORO, Tenn. – McCreary Central was unable to return to the win column on the road at Campbell County in neighboring Tennessee on Friday. Instead, host Campbell County edged McCreary Central 3-2 in a mid-season high school baseball game.
McCreary Central led 2-1 at the conclusion of the first inning. The Raiders maintained an advantage over Campbell County until the host team tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom half of the fourth frame.
Determined Campbell County pushed one run across in the bottom half of the sixth inning to move ahead 3-2.
McCreary Central lost despite edging Campbell County 6-5 in the hits column.
Campbell County pitcher Landon Addington was credited with the win. Addington surrendered two runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking one.
McCreary Central pitcher Riley Richmond took the loss. Richmond allowed five hits and three runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out four.
Brady Rutherford went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Campbell County in the hits column.
Evan Kidd led McCreary Central at the plate, providing two hits in four at-bats.
Campbell County made only one error defensively.
McCreary Central committed two errors in the setback.
The Raiders are scheduled to host Campbell County for a home game on Tuesday, May 1.
