McCreary Central beats Berea 13-1

STEARNS – McCreary Central pitcher Grant Hamner threw a no-hitter to lead the Raiders past Berea 13-1 in five innings in a high school baseball game on Thursday.
Berea was forced to play from behind throughout the contest. Leading 2-1, McCreary Central scored nine runs in the bottom half of the third inning to put the game out of Berea’s reach.
In an impressive outing on the mound, Hamner surrendered one run on zero hits over five innings, striking out four and walking one as he earned the win.
Berea pitcher Ben West took the loss. West lasted two and a third innings, allowing six hits and 10 runs while striking out two.
McCreary Central finished with nine hits. Hamner, Connor Campbell and Thaddeus Baird each collected multiple hits for the Raiders. Helping his pitching cause at the plate, Hamner went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for McCreary Central in the triumph.
Another McCreary Central batter, Blake Corder, supplied two RBIs of his own.
Ben Maynard drove in Berea’s lone run in the lopsided loss.
McCreary Central is under the direction of head coach Marc Taylor.
