Three-Vehicle Accident

A McCreary County man was seriously injured in a Tuesday afternoon three-vehicle accident in Whitley City. According to McCreary County Sheriff’s Deputy Alex Jones, witnesses stated Larry Meadows, 73, was traveling northbound on U.S. 27 in his classic vehicle, when he made an abrupt lane change and struck a vehicle leaving McDonald’s that was entering the turn lane. The collision spun Meadow’s car out of control when it collided with a second vehicle. Meadows was transported by McCreary County EMS for treatment of his injuries. The driver of the second vehicle, identified as Joyce Higgenbotham, and three passengers were also transported for evaluation, but were not seriously injured. The driver of the third vehicle was unharmed. Deputy Jones is continuing the investigation. Members of the Whitley City Fire Department assisted at the scene.
