Board member arrested

McCreary County School Board member Dustin Stephens was arrested Saturday night in Wayne County following an alleged assault.
According to the arrest citation the Kentucky State Police responded to a call concerning a fight at Conley Bottom Resort around 7:37 Saturday evening. The Trooper spoke with Stephens who admitted he had an altercation with a subject “due to some family issues.” Stephens suffered a cut to his face in the fight.
The second subject, identified in the report as Brian Wilder, left the scene prior to the Trooper’s arrival, and reportedly suffered minor injuries as well.
Stephens, Board member for District 3, was charged with assault 4th degree, minor injury, and lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center. He was released the next morning. The offense is considered a class A misdemeanor and if found guilty in a court of law is punishable by a fine of up to $500 or up to a year in jail.
