McCreary Central falls to East Jessamine in 12th Region Tournament

SOMERSET – The McCreary Central Lady Raiders’ postseason run ended in the opening round of the 12th Region Softball Tournament at Pulaski County High School on Monday as East Jessamine, the champion out of the 46th District, pulled away to win 8-0.
With the loss, McCreary Central ended its season 15-9.
Current frontrunner East Jessamine improved to 28-2 and advanced in the 12th Region Softball Tournament with the win.
Dominant East Jessamine moved ahead early and never faltered, eventually outhitting the Lady Raiders 15-3.
Setting the tone early, East Jessamine plated three runs in the bottom half of the first inning.
East Jessamine pitcher Kaylee Terral pitched a complete game and earned the win. Terral allowed three hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 14.
McCreary Central Macey Welchel took the loss. Welchel surrendered eight runs on 15 hits over six innings, striking out one and walking one.
Terral, Maddie Stinnett, Allie Lane, Brylee Hage and Haylee Stansbury each collected multiple hits for East Jessamine in the convincing victory. Stinnett led the Lady Jaguars with three hits while Lane, Stansbury and Mallory McDowell contributed two RBIs apiece.
Welchel, Celya Kiser and Cammie Gilreath provided one hit apiece for McCreary Central in the season-ending loss.
Each 12th Region softball team committed one error.
In the other opening round games in the 12th Region Softball Tournament it was Pulaski County 2, Garrard County 0; Boyle County 4, Rockcastle County 3 and Mercer County 9, Southwestern 2.
