Forest Service waives fee at Natural Arch for National Get Outdoors Day

In recognition of National Get Outdoors Day, the Daniel Boone National Forest will waive recreation fees at the Natural Arch Scenic Area in McCreary County on Sat., June 9. Visitors will not be required to pay a fee to use the area.
The scenic area provides plenty of amenities for outdoor family gatherings, featuring eight picnic sites and two group-use shelters for daytime use.
Each picnic shelter has a large grill and enough tables to accommodate up to 36 people. Nearby play areas and more than six miles of hiking trails provide opportunities for recreational activity.
The area’s main attraction is Natural Arch, a spectacular sandstone arch that spans nearly 100 feet. An overlook provides visitors with a panoramic view of the arch and surrounding forest.
In 2008 NGOD was launched by the U.S. Forest Service and American Recreation Coalition. The initiative encourages healthy outdoor activities for adults and children of all ages.
