The McCreary County Occupational Tax added just over $1.1 million to the General fund for the last fiscal year, the lowest total over the past three years, but still above what was projected for in the previous budget.
According to numbers released by the McCreary County Judge Executive’s Office $26,052 was added to the General Fund through the tax for the month of June, bringing the end of year total to $1,114,906. That total is nearly $115,000 more than was projected in the budget set by the Fiscal Court last year.
For 2016-17 the OC Tax netted over $1.166 million, about $2,000 more than the current year. In 2015-16 $1.135 million was collected.
The current collection is about $4,000 ahead of 2014-15, when the tax topped the million dollar mark for the first time.
The current fiscal year was the first full year since the extra half percent was added to the tax, with the additional revenues dedicated to the jail fund. For the year $543,870 was added to the fund.
