Goins set to guide Lady Raiders

STEARNS – Amy Goins is preparing to guide the McCreary Central volleyball team in her first season as head coach. Goins is a McCreary Central alumnus. She replaced Wade Davis, Jr. as head coach of the McCreary Central volleyball team.
Another McCreary Central alumnus, Kayla Ridener, has joined the Lady Raider coaching staff as well.
McCreary Central is scheduled to open the 2018 season on the road at nearby Jellico, Tenn., Monday, Aug. 13.
The Lady Raiders are slated to visit Bell County on Thursday, Aug. 16. Then, following back-to-back away matches, McCreary Central is due to host an invitational tournament on Saturday, Aug. 18.
McCreary Central’s 2018 schedule will include additional matches versus Somerset, Whitley County, Burgin, Lynn Camp, Southwestern, Cumberland County, Clinton County, Williamsburg, Wayne County, June Buchanan, Buckhorn and Clinton County.
The Lady Raiders ended the 2017 season 10-18. McCreary Central lost to Wayne County in the opening round of the 2017 48th District Volleyball Tournament.
The Lady Raiders opened preseason practice shortly after the conclusion of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Dead Period. Excitement is building for McCreary Central’s upcoming campaign.
The Lady Raiders will look to be much-improved in the 2018 season. McCreary Central competes with Wayne County and Southwestern in the 48th District.
