Small drop in OC Tax collections

By Greg Bird
Occupational Tax collections for the last month were slightly down from a year ago, but still well on pace to exceed $1 million by the end of the fiscal year.
According to the McCreary County Judge Executive’s Office the month of October added a total of $193,338.36 from the tax, with 33 percent, or $64,446.12 dedicated to the Jail Fund. $128,892.24 was added to the General Fund, bringing the four-month total General Fund deposits to $401,006, about $8,000 behind the same period last year.
October’s collections were about $2,000 lower than last year, but nearly $10,000 higher than in 2016 and $16,000 ahead of the same month in 2015.
With an average collection of over $100,000 per month so far this fiscal year, the General Fund collections from the Occupational Tax is projected to hit $1.2 million if current trends continue.
Just over $200,000 has been added to the Jail fund over the first four months.
