The McCreary County Courthouse will be closed today through Saturday for the installation of new heating and air units for the building.
Judge Executive Doug Stephens issued the closure order citing staff and public safety concerns as large equipment will have to be hoisted on to and off the roof. Additionally, since the old units will have to be removed, there will be no heat in the building during the transition period.
In September the Fiscal Court voted to purchase and install six new heating and air units at the Courthouse due to the age and condition of the old units. The bid price for the units came in at just over $53,000, with the Administrative Office of the Courts paying for 77-percent of the purchase and installation.
