Board Chair injured in accident

McCreary County Board of Education member Dustin Stephens, and his fiancé Leslie Tucker were injured in a one-vehicle accident early Saturday morning in Stearns.
According to reports Stephens called McCreary 911 Dispatch at 12:50 a.m. Saturday morning stating he and his passenger were thrown from his motorcycle after a vehicle ran them off the roadway on Wilburn K. Ross Highway.
Emergency crews found the two patients about 10 feet off the roadway, in a field next to Owens Road in Stearns. Both Stephens and Tucker were airlifted via medical helicopter for treatment of their injuries. Both have reportedly been released from the hospital and are recovering.
No official accident report has yet been issued as the case is under investigation by Deputy Dustin Ridner.
Stephens was elected to the 3rd District seat in 2016, and was named Chair of the Board this past January.
