Voter registration deadline approaching

McCreary County Clerk Eric Haynes is encouraging anyone wishing to vote in the upcoming General Election to check their registration status prior to the first Monday in October.
With the General Election just under six weeks away, Haynes urges people who are unsure if they are registered to vote, or where they can vote, to check their registration status by visiting the Clerk’s Office, or online at www.govoteky.com before the deadline to register to vote at the end of the business day on Monday, October 7.
Absentee voting, for those who will be unable to physically make it to the polls on election day, will begin on October 15 in the Clerk’s Office.
The November 5th election will not only feature statewide races such as Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State and Auditor, it will also contain a local option election concerning the possibility of legalized alcohol sales in McCreary County.
