In a press release issued by Lieutenant Jamie Meece of the North McCreary Fire Department, a new weather sensor has been installed at the station giving McCreary County residents another option when looking for current conditions and forecasts.
The AcuRite ATLAS™ Weather Station, which officially came on line on October 15, was donated to the department by AcuRite, a company dedicated to providing precision time, temperature and weather products.
The station provides current weather conditions, such as temperature and wind, as well as a short-range forecast, pollen counts, air quality and other data.
The data can be viewed from a computer or phone by visiting https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KKYWHITL3. Cellular users can also download an app to allow them to directly access the station for reports.
Members of the department were trained in use and maintenance of the station prior to its installation.
